Training session for teachers to apply IT into teaching

The session welcomed the school board along with the teachers of the English Department, and especially the attendance of Mr. Thomas G. Giglione – education counselor from Canada.

The new teaching method received high attention from teachers

Beside instructing the school teachers to use the Smart Board during classes, Mr. Thomas also introduced a few new teaching methods using information technology to make classes closer and more interesting for students, for example: using educational websites for studying; replacing the traditional notebook with personal blogs;… Teachers can upload the lessons on the internet, give assignments through Facebook, or send documents by email,… The teaching method involving modern means of communication has helped the studying to be easier, faster and more effective.

In the training session, Mr. Thomas also affirm the importance of Information Technology in education. The education of Vietnam, as he thought, still lacks practice and depends too much on books, so It becomes inflexible and too passive, thus lacking practical uses. Students need to initiatively turns the knowledge into their owns, not just simply memorize it technically. He believes these teaching methods will be of great help for students to change their capacities in studying and working for a more successful future. He earnestly wants the teachers and students of Viet Nam to get used to and frequently come in contact with the modern technology in education to get better results in both teaching and studying.
