After a long and strenuous period of the entrance examination, our newbies, the tenth-graders, have savored the taste of success, becoming a part of a big family, Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.

Therefore, as an event to welcome the new students, on August 15th, the annual Orientation was organized so as to provide the rookies detailed and useful guidance that helps answer their questions and clarify all the doubts.

In order to make the Orientation come off well, our organizers had to meet up very early to finish and check all the requisite preparation. Then, after class meetings with new home-room teachers, all the new students gathered in the hall waiting excitedly for the Orientation to start. With a piece of ribbon tied to their wrist, a thing that was representative for their groups, the newbie eagerly followed their guides, who, surprisingly, were the couples of NHAT’s Mr&Miss – Ams Ambassadors, to explore the new world.

Several rooms being assigned different themes, our organization panel successfully brought to our newbie an enjoyable time, entertaining them with captivating presentations incorporated with interesting videos, games and performances, instead of mundane information about the school.

The first room, which was about the school’s geographic details, was intriguingly directed by “Mr.Security”, Duong Hoang Phuong, a 12-ITer and the eleventh-grader of the History department, Le Duc Anh. They succeeded in not only conveying the school’s map but also putting our newbies in stitches with their interesting stories about students’ lives.

This was followed by proceeding to the Hall of Fame, which vividly illustrated our rookies with specific details about the school, from activities to achievements as a whole.

After that, the new students were led to the Youth Union Committee’s Headquarter, where they were introduced all the popular activities of our school, such as the Specialized Departments’ Festival and NHAT. They were also encouraged to take part in the Youth Union Committee in order not only to gain experience but also to have a chance to be in the next organization panel for the annual Orientation.

The two last rooms were the Annual Activities Rooms, which provided the newbies a wider scope and deeper insight into our school’s activities such as Made In 12, Nineternal, NHAT and other school’s clubs, and the Study Room, giving thorough answers to the newbie’s questions on several issues such as contests, exams, studying abroad and so on.

On the same day, Club Fair, organized by Ams Advisor, was held in the afternoon to introduce the new students to all the school’s clubs. This was held as a gift to welcome all the tenth-graders to the school. Let’s wish them all the best for this new school year, 2012-2013.
