MESSAGE OF PEACE
People from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted greatly oppose with aggressive, provocative actions, and infringement of sovereignty from China, and we demand China to pull their rig and its escort force out of Vietnam’s areas, and not pursue similar actions in the future.
At the beginning of May 2014, China sent the HD-981 rig into Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone. Massing vessels, including navy ships from China were mobilized to convoy the rig. These ships have been ramming and blasting Vietnam’s vessels with water cannons, causing tremendous damage to both the people and our boats.
China’s acts are clear a violation to Vietnam’s sovereignty. China has acted against the Vietnam – China agreement on basic rules to solve sea dispute, and contravened international law, 1982 United Nations Convention of the Law of the Sea, and Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC), all of which were signed by China. China has, therefore, threatened peace, stability, security, and air-sea safety in the region and the world, and damaged the friendly relationship between Vietnam and China.
People from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted greatly oppose with these aggressive, provocative actions, and infringement of sovereignty from China, and we demand China to pull their rig and its escort force out of Vietnam’s areas, and not pursue similar actions in the future.
People from Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted are in agreement with Vietnam’s viewpoint expressed in the speech of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung during the 24th ASEAN Summit, Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar on 11/05/2014. We strongly support sea police, and fishermen of Vietnam in protection of the country’s sovereignty.
Our school, as founded on the aspirations of peace and international union, has always had a clear understanding of the value of peace and yearned to live peacefully with independence and freedom and maintain friendly relationships with people in other countries, including Chinese. Therefore, we send this "Message of peace" and appeal for all teachers, students, pupils together with peace-advocating organizations and individuals all over the world to support Vietnam in our fight to protect the peace, justice and equality.
Justice will eventually prevail!
Vietnamese will eventually prevail!
Long live Vietnam!
