[Vietnamese Teachers’ Day: 20/11] Mrs. Pham Vu Bich Hang – a loving mother, a caring friend
- Hi all, from now on I’ll be your form teacher. My name is Pham Vu Bich Hang and I’ll be teaching you Physics!
On listening to her introduction, the very first thought to cross my mind was: “Oh god, a Physics teacher; she must be horribly strict…”. Yet her sweet smile along with the openness and friendliness of hers immediately changed my mind. On second thought, having a form teacher teaching Physics is actually quite fascinating!
Mrs. Pham Vu Bich Hang – the lovely form teacher of 11 Chinese English class
From the moment she walked into the classroom, she had already exuded such a comfortable, youthful and approachable spirit. The entire class was captivated by the not only charming but also glowing smile of hers. When she introduced herself as our form teacher, many of my classmates still felt this sense of strangeness; I myself also thought that she would be quite strict and dry. Over time, I gradually realized how wrong I was.
To understand more about the members of our new family, she always talked in such a friendly and approachable way with her students. She even organized many interesting games such as "Truth telling" or art shows so that classmates could understand one another better and everyone had the opportunity to express their talents. Sometimes I regard her as a true friend of 11 Chinese English. She has expunged the boundaries between teacher and students, helping us become a close-knit community.
Guess which one is our Mrs. Hang?
She is also a really sensible mother. Anyone who has either bad or good news all comes to share with her first. Anyone with a sad story can have her comfort by their side. She never holds back her criticism whenever the class makes mistakes. That's how she expresses love for us. She is very amiable, but in times of need, she can become very stern. She wishes her jocularity and cordiality will create beautiful moments for our class, but she was always ready to remind the class not to make the same unfortunate mistakes. Every month, she together with our class throws a heart-warming party to celebrate the birthdays of our classmates. The party is only a small sweet treat, but behind it was the immense love of the mother for her 37 children.
She teaches Physics, the subject which brings my class untold difficulties. That was also the primary reason why many of us, including myself, are initially terrified of learning it. But as she began to give her lectures, our fear was completely gone. She was the Fairy stepping into real life through fairytales, painting Physics with all the new colors we’d never seen before.
The gracious smile constantly brightening her appearance
Her lectures are simple and straightforward. Her given examples are familiar to us so that the whole class can easily comprehend. She has an entire collection of myriad stimulating short video clips and vivid images for us to observe physics phenomena. Apart from exercises in the textbook, she also assigns us teamwork projects and conducts live experiments right in our class. Through such activities, each and every one of us is mesmerized by those appealing periods. In the past, understanding what was being taught was already a great deal of hardship, let alone memorizing and applying the laws of Physics to solve problems. However, thanks to the encouragement and kindness of my teacher, not only my results are improving but, to some extent, my passion for Physics is coming to life. She helped me realize that Physics is really not that scary, and I am fully capable of conquering it if my heart is put into what I do. Now I’m confident to say that my excelling and loving Physics is truly beyond my imagination. And I also believe that all the members of 11 Chinese English can feel the same thing!
Our time together though is not much, but if anyone asked me about the memories of Mrs. Hang and 11 Chinese English, I wouldn’t be able to put everything into words. The flashbacks consist of both happiness and sadness but with her by our side, all the sadness can always be turned into joy, and happiness will become euphoria!
On the occasion of November 20, on behalf of 11 Chinese English class, I would like to wish you a Vietnam Teacher's Day as warming and memorable as it can be. The chicken flock of 11 CE will continue to strive, to shine and always be as optimistic as the beloved form teacher of ours!
