TOPIC: SCHOOL-RELATED DRUG PREVENTION FOR 10TH GRADERS - 2021
At the start of yesterday’s afternoon (25/12/2021), the school board of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School has organized two online sessions on drug prevention for 10th graders via Zoom. Featuring Lieutenant Ngô Quốc Khánh as a special guest, the sessions were carried out in much success. Lieutenant Ngô Quốc Khánh is currently working at Police Department investigating drug crimes - Hanoi City’s Public Security, as well as serving as the reporter for yesterday’s event.
Each day, even each hour, drugs are finding ways to lure students from all ages and walks of life, especially teenagers, into becoming drug addicts, providing drug traffickers with substantial profit that cannot be ignored. Therefore, our missions of drug abuse prevention and control are of everyone’s concern. In view of this issue, conversations were organized to help students clear up their own doubts and improve their understanding about the dangers of addictive substances and the skills necessary to protect themselves from the threats of drugs so as to decisively prevent and push back against the presence of drug abuse at schools.
Joined by more than 600 students from all classes, mr. Quốc Khánh has enthusiastically taught lessons ranging from the most basic of all (definition of drugs and banned substances) to the current state of affairs surrounding drug addicts; the threats of drugs on the physical, mental health and future prospects of young generations. Besides, the different mechanisms of drug addiction for humans, in particular the students, were also elucidated. Students were also acquainted with the sophisticated real-life methods of drug addiction and the correct responses to these situations.
This problem has been a heated debate whose concern is of the whole society, especially the youth. Alongside the development of a healthy culture remain the few teenagers with bad habits and tendencies. In reality, as Lieutenant Ngô Quốc Khánh noted “Drugs can only be addictive when friends are involved”. Therefore, prevention of social problems, especially school-related drug abuse, not only requires knowing the theories but also their applications. This threat would have only triggered more of itself, “invading” and “creeping into” the cracks and holes of our classrooms had it not been for the call against drugs from the Steering committee. “No one’s going to give anyone anythingl”, “Don’t become others’ cash cows”, “Your future is your choice” - All were the valuable experiences that the lieutenant wanted to share to the students, the future of the country.
At the end of the lessons, Lieutenant Ngô Quốc Khánh also had a few compliments for Hanoi - Amsterdam High school students: “You are all very proactive in asking questions. That shows that you have been attentive during the lessons. I would like to sincerely thank all the teachers, parents and students who attended today’s special lessons on school-related drug prevention measures”. And certainly, for the students, these priceless sessions have assisted greatly in universalizing knowledge around problems of drug abuse as well as prevention measures to protect themselves and their surrounding communities.
Through this amazing conversation with Lieutenant Ngô Quốc Khánh, students have learned a lot of useful information about school-related drug prevention and their personal responsibilities to the communities. On behalf of this website’s editorial board, we would like to thank our school and the lieutenant for organizing and sharing his invaluable life knowledge, and also hope that students will always maintain a healthy lifestyle and contribute more to their communities and the society.
