Post by: trangtrang | 12/07/2022 | 1139 reads

The high school entrance exam has officially ended with many memorable memories and  particularly impressive achievements from the school's secondary section. In particular, Nguyen Thi Thu Minh - a student of class 9A at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted in the school year 2021-2022 has excellently become the valedictorian in Physics at two high schools: High School of Science (HUS) and High School of Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE High School) and the valedictorian in Specialized Mathematics of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.

Rept. : Congratulations on your excellent results in the level-up exam! Can you share some experiences to learn subjects evenly and effectively?

Thu Minh: For me, learning is a process and requires constant effort, so learning early and mastering fundamental knowledge is extremely important. If you focus on balanced studying from 6th grade, 7th grade, there is a high chance that you will do well in all three conditional subjects when you go to 9th grade. Moreover, I have to evenly distribute my time to the subjects according to my ability. It is also important to study with the right teachers, but in my opinion, each person also needs to know how to self-study, self-review and consolidate knowledge, especially in the last days.

Rept.: Surely to achieve such good results as today, it is impossible not to mention the dedication of the teachers. Can you share about the teachers who inspired you in Math and Physics?

Thu Minh: In elementary school, I was fortunate to know and study with Mr. Tran Huu Hieu - a hilarious teacher who is close to students. Thanks to him, I have had access to interesting and difficult Math problems and learned how to solve them properly and carefully. In addition, he understands the psychology of children, so his lessons are very interesting. When I was in secondary school, I studied with teacher Nguyen Tien Lam, who taught me the knowledge to prepare for the specialized exam very early, so when I was in grade 9, I had time to spare for other parts of Math.

Regarding Physics, I started later than other students; it was in 8th grade when I started to gradually approach this subject. Ms. Pham Vu Bich Hang has instilled in me a passion for the subject and taught me a lot of useful knowledge. Thanks to her dedicated teaching, I went from a student who had never approached Advanced Physics, had improved considerably and won my first awards in this subject in 8th grade. In 9th grade, Ms. Nam helped me aggregate and strengthen my knowledge, and understand each topic better. In addition, she also taught me additional lessons with strange phenomena and showed me many problem solving skills. She has very good and concise solutions that I will always remember.

Rept.: Passing the specialized exam is a big challenge, and during the period of study, everyone must have their own difficulties. During your review, what difficulties did you face and how did you overcome them?

Thu Minh: While studying for the exam, I encountered difficult Math problems that I couldn't think of the solutions to, so when I tried all the methods and still couldn't solve it, I would switch to another subject and wait for the teacher to solve those problems. When the teacher is done with the solutions, I will ask the teacher and friends in more detail about the method to think of a solution. Moreover, I also checked carefully and tried to redo the exercises that I could not do to remember more knowledge. Sometimes when I feel very pressured, I often share my stories with friends or parents and teachers. During the review process for the specialized exam, I still had many unfulfilled goals. Despite being miserable, I was determined not to give up and move towards other goals.

Rept.: People often think: "Girls can hardly handle natural subjects well." What do you think about this opinion?

Thu Minh: I believe girls can study natural subjects as well as boys. Currently, more and more girls are learning natural subjects such as Math, Physics, Chemistry, and they also compete with other boys and win equally high prizes. From my perspective, subjects have no gender discrimination, as long as you have the passion and persistence to pursue your goals, you will succeed.

Rept.: Do you have anything to say to the 2008 students who are preparing to take next year's high school entrance exam?

Thu Minh: You should pay attention to study carefully from the beginning of the school year, arrange a reasonable rest schedule, and avoid waiting until the second semester to start studying. For the three conditional subjects, you need to firmly grasp the knowledge that teachers teach in class or learn more difficult types of exercises. For your majors, you should identify your majors early and focus most of your time on the subject. If you study on the right schedule and grasp the knowledge firmly, I believe that passing the specialized school will not be too difficult for you. I wish you all the best in your 10th grade exams next year!
