HANOI – AMSTERDAM HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE GIFTED’S EXCELLENT CLUB COMPETITION
Upon receiving the approval of the school board’s Party Committee, to encourage fraternization and collaboration among the clubs, and to assess their achievements in the school year 2020 – 2021, the Standing Committee of the school’s Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, in cooperation with the alumni-led Hanoi – Amsterdam Organization, announced the competition “Excellent Club” with the participants being the clubs of Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
Despite being held online, talented and dynamic Amsers were not discouraged
47 clubs, 47 areas, 47 shades, 47 kinds of love. At Ams, the students are given the opportunity to pursue their interests, including the arts, academia, athletics or social work. 47 clubs are 47 homes for them to absorb knowledge, practice, mature every day through both huge and small activities. These places also bring together like-minded people beyond the classroom. This is one of the reasons that Amsers are this active and united.
After a year of getting to know each other and working together, the students had many memories as well as valuable experience. All of these things were woven into and expressed by Amsers in their presentations. All the applications were very well-made and high-quality both in terms of content and presentation.
A month after the announcement, the 10 most excellent clubs, including GreenAms 6520 Robotics Team, Society of Open Science, Amstronomy, Glee Ams, We Are 222, Psi Ams, Puzzle Ams, Ams Advisor, Ams Writers’ Guild, and Hanoi – Amsterdam Entrepreneurz Club, have appeared and entered the online final round, held at 8h30 on the morning of Saturday, July 24th 2021.
Here, the clubs had delivered enthusiastic presentations and interview rounds with the judges. The participants showed not only their passion for their respective fields and their love for the clubs, but also, more than that, their phenomenal leadership, improvising and problem-solving skills through answering the judges’ tricky questions. The Amsers once again affirmed their amazing qualities that will help them in the future.
The judges, including Ms. Phan Hong Anh – Secretary of the school’s Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Mr. Nguyen Van Dinh – Vice Secretary of the school’s Communist Youth Union, Mrs. Pham Ngoc Lan – Secretary of the teaching staff’s Communist Union, Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong – Math teacher, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan – Math class of 83-86, Ms. Do Thi Tu Anh – Literature class of 86-89, Mr. Mai Thanh Ha – Physics class of 92-95, Mr. Chu Duc Hoang – Physics class of 96-99, had a hard time assessing the performances and delivering results. Every club has its own strengths; they were all very talented and deserving of recognition. After a period of discussion, the judges unanimously agreed on the final results: 1 special prize, 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes, 4 third prizes, and 17 consolidation prizes.
The special prize went to the Robotics club - GreenAms 6520 Robotics Team.
