On the day of September 20th each year, each student will have an opportunity to express their deepest gratitude for their teachers, the quiet ferrymen. In harmony with this atmosphere, on Thursday morning (19/11), Hanoi – Amsterdam High School has held the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day celebration. This ceremony was attended by leaders at all levels, distinguished visitors, former teachers and students, parents along with all of its teachers, official staffs at school and more than 2000 Amsers.

On the theme of this ceremony : Hanoi – Amsterdam “a road of 30 years and future aspirations”, students and teachers all had a chance to reminisce about Hanoi-Amsterdam High School in the past and now by going through the memories of the school after 30 years of growth and development. Thanks to the former teachers of the school, who passionately devoted themselves to guiding and leading generations of students, Ams has become more and more developed ever since. On the opening of the ceremony, our students and teachers have given us a spectacular performance. In addition, it was performed by both secondary school and high school’s students, which represents unity, contribution and support to build a strong, rising and ever-lasting Ams. A potpourri of School Song and the song of Hanoi-Amsterdam is another way for the students to express gratitude, thankfulness, and sincere wishes to their teachers.

The songs and lyrics expressingthe students’ deepest gratitudes toward their teachers.

After the spiritual moment of saluting the flags, teacher Le Thi Oanh – Principal of the school sent her greetings and gratitude to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers’ Day 20/11. The whole school then sank into her emotional and meaningful sharings. She summarized the 30-year development phrase of Hanoi – Amsterdam High School, with an admirable amount of records: 170 international medals, thousands of national awards in intellectual and creative science contests,...

All these success was put down to the conscientiousness and devotion of all generations of the teachers in the school. They have always been a soulful and spiritual resource for students to rise to their success, as well as achieve many great prizes and records in only a year: 5 international medals in High School, 24 international medals and 5 national medals in Secondary School. She also emphasized that: “Hanoi – Amsterdam, Nam Cao Street located in Hanoi- Amsterdam, Hoang Minh Giam Street will create profound feelings about the unity and alignment of our school. And so, the presence of the school today has stressed the values and dignity that all generations of teachers have created.”

The celebration later continues with the phrase of giving praises and rewards to individual teachers for their contributions in their teaching careers, having received commendation of all levels in profession. These prestigious rewards are important sources of encouragement for Hanoi – Amsterdam High School teachers to keep up their good work in nurturing the students. The teachers all have received certificates of merit by the Minister of Education and have been awarded municipal and local levels’ great prizes in the school year of 2015-2016.

An activity that must not be forgotten in the event of 20/11 each year is the making of journals and newspapers to celebrate the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day. This is the chance for Amsers to show their hidden talents and creativity, as well as express their love and respects to their teachers. This traditional and meaningful activity has been maintained from the past generations. On behalf of the students, Dao Vu Quang, Hanoi- Amsterdam Ambassador expressed the most profound gratitude to all the teachers and staffs at school. We Amsers all hope to send in our best wishes, our most sincere gratefulness and gifts such as flowers,... to our beloved teachers.

The mesmerizing melody of “The song of the teacher” by Teacher Nguyen Anh Tuan marked an end to the ceremony.

The celebration has ended but perhaps it repercussion will linger on the minds of every audience. The Hanoi – Amsterdam School today is a forceful evidence for the gratitude and the unshakable grounds that our teachers have previously formed. We would like to wish our teachers good health and happiness. We hope that our teachers will always accompany us on the future road ahead to help us become the enthusiastic Amsers who “desire to conquer the highest peaks of the world”!
