The National Young Informatics Contest has been jointly organized by the Union Committee, MOST, MOET, MIC, VTV and the Vietnamese Informatics Community since 1985. 28 years passed, the competition has secured itself as a prestigious playground for thousands of students nationwide each year to test their I.T. skills.

Joining the ceremony were Bùi Quang Huy, supplementary member and standing  secretary of the Union Committee; representatives of MOST, MOET and MIC, Vietnam Television, the Vietnamese Informatics Community and the People’s Committee of Quảng Nam, etc.

Development Potentials of Youths

In his concluding speech, Bùi Quang Huy praised the efforts to improve  the content and format of the program in order to keep up with global developments and attract young people. Mr. Huy also commended 48 provincial and city Union members for their active mobilization of students to join the contest.

Mr. Huy said: “We are also pleased to see the contest receiving interest from different school leaders, many teachers and parents, especially from thousands of participants across the country. Numerous contests held high standards, impressing the Board of Judges with strong intellectual abilities and creativity”. The results showed that the contest board had achieved their objectives of creating a playground for young generations to foster their passion for programming and engineering. This has also been a chance for students to exchange and share experiences with each other.

The national digital transformation under the concern of the Party, the State and the whole society is firmly underway. “From young lovers of programming of today, I hope that you all will utilize your potential to master digital technology, accomplish greatly in education and at work so that you can become an important part of the ongoing active contribution to the realization of our desire to build and develop a prosperous and happy Vietnam in the near future”, exclaimed mr. Huy.

Spotlight of the contest

This year’s Regional Round of the contest has received enthusiastic support with 1072 contestants (an increase of 20% compared to 2021), among whom 796 contestants were selected from provincial contests and 276 contestants chosen online in the preliminary round.

The Regional Round organized in joint with Festivals of Creativity & Technology in 3 regions (North, Middle, and South) has made a name for itself as both a place to test your I.T. skills and to gain experience and discuss technology.

A few changes to the contest’s 28-year journey of development have been noted in 2022. The organization board now officially operates on their contest’s own website in https://tinhoctre.vn/, a tool to assist and nurture young talents in Informatics in the upcoming years. The board has also added group C2 for non-specialized high school students while reserving group C1 for specialized high school students to compete under the Procon format in the Finals. In addition, the organization board has included Python for elementary students in group A, increasing the number of students chosen for the Regional Round. These will be the necessary renovations in the context of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and national development through listening to our contestants, teachers and experts.

5 First prizes have been awarded in the national awards ceremony (namely 1 First in group A, 1 First in group B, 1 First in group C1, 1 First in group C2, and 1 First in group D3). Each First prize winner will earn a Creative youth Medal, an honorary medal conferred by the Union Executive Branch, alongside cash prizes worth 3 million dong. Besides, the Organization Board has awarded 12 Second, 30 Third and 79 Consolation prizes.

Hanoi - Amsterdam High School were also delighted to make its name with 4 Consolation prizes for high school students, namely Lê Huy Châu - 11 I.T., Nguyễn Đức Huy - 11 I.T., Nguyễn Đức Anh - 10 I.T., Nguyễn Hoàng Dũng - 10  I.T. (2021-2022). Ams middle school students with a Second, Third and Consolation are Nguyễn Hữu Tuấn - 8A, Nguyễn Nhật Minh - 7A, Lê Trọng Khôi - 7A (2021-2022) respectively.

The contest has had important contributions in finding young Informatics talents while also encouraging our youths to learn and master I.T in the hopes of nurturing a competent workforce for the national digital transformation and national development. The 28th National Youth Informatics Contest has ended, leaving many positive impacts and continuing to assert itself as a top playing field for Vietnamese students to test their I.T. abilities.
