Due to the unpredictable pandemic situation, this year’s activities of the Youth Union, with the topic “The everliving Declaration of Independence”, were organized in classes via online platforms. Teachers, as well as pupils, organized many practical events to celebrate Viet Nam’s 76th Independence Day (2/9/1945-2/9/2021), and to memorialize the 52th death anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (2/9/1969-2/9/2021).

These activities, held by the Youth Union, play a significant role when it comes to building up patriotism inside each and every student. They enrich their knowledge, and encourage them to become more participative in the task of making Viet Nam even more prosperous and developed. Indeed, the prosperity, freedom and sovereignty of the nation in the present are the fruit of countless days filled with bullets, bombs, and hardships in the past. Hence, these activities reminded us to take pride in the achievements of the revolution, in the Vietnamese Communist Party, in our country, and in the Great President Ho Chi Minh.

These activities promote awareness raising about important events, competitive activities, and the practice of “5 advice from Uncle Ho”. Hence, students are encouraged to make greater effort to serve the country, and to master the future. These activities are gracefully  incorporated via educational games on Quizizz, Kahoot!, thus enhancing students’ understanding and internalization of the knowledge acquired.

Moreover, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s activities this September also directed their focus towards the prevention of Covid-19, with the policy “Each commune, each ward is a fort against the disease, and each citizen is a soldier in this battle”. These sessions are bound to have granted students a great amount of practical knowledge. Hence, with their enhanced proactiveness and social responsibility, they are certain to strictly abide by countermeasures, initiated by the government and educational institutions, against the pandemic in the future.

Through Youth Union’s activities in the past September, students from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the gifted have gained helpful and priceless knowledge, as well as experience, about the Independence Day 2/9, President Ho Chi Minh’s Death Anniversary, and the responsibility amidst the Covid-19 epidemic. Hopefully, all students from our school will continue to resiliently make their best effort on their learning journey to achieve their dreams, and to become an excellent member of the Youth Union in the future.
