A summary of the remarkable achievements accomplished by teachers and students from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted school year 2020 - 2021

The school year 2020 - 2021 has officially ended with many proud achievements of teachers and students of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, contributing to highlighting the school's long list of achievements in both teaching, learning and extracurricular activities. To summarize a school year full of efforts, let's take a look at the achievements that the school has achieved in the past year with the AWW reporter.

1. Excellent results in excellent teachers and students competitions at regional and city level

In the 5th Hanoi Education and Training Information Technology Day 2020, Physics teacher Tran Thi An won the First Prize of the competition to design digital lectures and teaching software.

Excellent students competitions in high school:

Among the results of the city's Excellent Student Competition round I, the school won 334 city prizes, including: 33 first prizes, 140 second prizes, 79 third prizes, 82 consolation prizes. Especially, English won 8 first prizes, Mathematics 4 first prizes, Physics 3 first prizes, Chemistry 5 first prizes, and Geography 5 first prizes.

 

INTEL ISEF Science and Technology Competition: 1 1st prize, 1 second prize at City level; 1 topic participated in the national competition and won the second prize (students Ngo Gia Bao, 11 Maths 1 and Nguyen Gia Khanh, 11 Informatics)

The XXVI National Youth Informatics Competition: 02 Third Prizes at City level and qualified for the National Competition.

Excellent students competition in secondary school:

Excellent Students Competition in Cau Giay District: won 141 prizes with 33 first prizes, 72 second prizes, 20 third prizes and 16 consolation prizes, commended Science subjects with 8 first prizes, Information science with 7 first prizes, and Math with 5 prizes. Physics, Chemistry and History each got 3 first prizes.

Hanoi Excellent Students Competition: won 115 prizes with 20 First prizes, 50 Second prizes, 28 Third prizes and 17 Consolation prizes. Especially, Physics won 6 first prizes.

Young Informatics Competition: 02 Second Prizes at City level and qualified for the National Competition.

 

2. The National Team of Hanoi - Amsterdam School continues to lead the country

According to information from the Department of Education and Training, the whole city of Hanoi had 184 students participating in the national high school excellent student competition with 139 students winning the prize - the highest in the country. Among 139 prizes, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted contributed 93 prizes out of 112 entries, including: 10 First prizes, 33 Second prizes, 31 Third prizes and 19 Consolation prizes, especially with many teams making up the majority: English, French, Physics, Chemistry, Math. The results not only show the strength of Amsers in both science, natural and social subjects, foreign languages, but also partly confirms the quality of the school's teaching with thematic contents that are closely focused. 

Results of the selection for the Hanoi Excellent Student Competition from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted: Math team: 9/10 students; Physics team: 16/17 students; Chemistry team: 14/14 students; Biology team: 8/9 students; Informatics team: 5/7 students; Literature team: 2/7 students; History team: 4/4 students; Geography Team: 5/5 students; English team: 18/18 students; French team: 8/12 students; Russian team: 1/3 students; Chinese team: 3/6 students.

 

3. Amsers are successful in international arenas

Online Olympic competitions: European Physics Olympiad 2020 won 1 Gold Medal (student Nguyen Manh Quan, 12 Physics 1); International Physics Olympiad 2020 won 1 bronze medal (student Nguyen Le Duc Hoang, 12 Physics 1); The International Astrophysics and Astronomy Competition 2020 won 1 Bronze Medal (student Tran Khanh Nguyen, 12 Physics 1).

In 2021, the school has 06 students selected to participate in the Regional and International Olympiad in Physics (Nguyen Hoang Nam – 12 Physics 1, Nguyen Manh Quan – 12 Physics 1, Tran Quang Vinh – 12 Physics 1), Chemistry (Nguyen Duy Anh – 12 Chemistry 1, Nguyen Le Thao Anh – 12 Chemistry 1), Mathematics (Do Bach Khoa – 12 Math 1).

In the International Olympiad of Metropolises (IOM 2020), Hanoi - Ams won a total of 8 medals, including: 5 Gold medals (Do Bach Khoa - 12 Maths 1, Nguyen Duy Anh - 12 Chemistry 1, Nguyen Le Thao Anh - 12 Chemistry 1, Tran Quang Vinh - 12 Physics 1, Nguyen Hoang Nam - 12 Physics 1), 1 Silver Medal (Nguyen Duc Anh - 12 Maths 1), 2 Bronze Medals (Nguyen Gia Bao - 11 Informatics, Nguyen Anh Quan - 11 Informatics).

The 17th International Math and Science Olympiad (IMSO 2021): 1 Gold Medal (student Ha Manh Hung - 6A), 3 silver medals (students Nguyen Ngoc Huy Anh - 6A, Vuong Ha Chi -  6 Manchester, Vu Nhat Long - 6 Manchester).

Nordic-Baltic Physics Olympiad 2021: The Vietnamese delegation participated for the first time with a team of 5 contestants, all selected from students who are members of the national team of Grade 11 Physics 1 from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, won 4 medals, including: 1 Gold Medal (student Tran Dinh Dung), 2 Silver medals (students Nguyen Manh Duc, Le Duc An), 1 Bronze Medal (student Dinh Tran Hai Chien).

First Robotics Competition 2021: GreenAms Robotics Team 6520 Club (GART 6520) won the Technical Design Award – content design – one of the four main awards in the World Robotics Competition.

In the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) 2021, all 8 students of the Vietnamese national team won prizes. Hanoi - Ams High School for the Gifted has 3 students including Nguyen Manh Quan and Tran Quang Vinh, both 12th grader, who won Gold Medals, and Nguyen Hoang Nam, a 12th grader who won a Bronze Medal. In particular, Nguyen Manh Quan, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Hanoi city achieved the highest score in the exam and was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the APhO President in 2021. This is the first time a Vietnamese student has achieved this achievement when participating in APhO.

4. Some other outstanding achievements

At the 9th World Invention Creativity Olympic (WICO) in Korea in 2020, the school won 2 Silver Medals (students Le Thanh Tai -  9B and Nguyen Thanh Long - 11 Biology).

National and international (voluntary) math and science competitions for high schoolers: French Physics Olympiads (3 Bronze Medals), AIJAM (9 Gold Medals), I2ASPO 2020 (3 Silver Medals, 5 Bronze Medals), ISYF (2 Certificates of Merit), Odyssey of the Mind (3 Certificates), APMOPSS X (4 Team Awards 1st Runner-up Team, 2 Bronze Medals, 2 Certificates of Merit), Kiyo 4i (8 Silver Medals, 7 Bronze Medals), MCM (6 consolations), Hack4Growth (1 gold medal), Mysce (2 silver medals), OIIC (1 gold medal), AIGC (1 gold medal), CMC (1 Global Top 3 student, 1 student ranked 12/621 world), AIGC (1 Gold Medal), SEAMO X (1 bronze), IMMC (1 consolation), Street Fighting Maths (3 silver).

In the Cambridge International A & AS Level exam in October, November 2020: 06 students of the school received Cambridge International awards: Student Le Hoang Lam – 11 Cambridge achieved the highest score in Vietnam; the students who achieved the highest ranking results in the participating subjects: Vo Quang Minh - 12 Oxbridge (Business), Nguyen Mai Ngan - 11 Chinese-English (Psychology), Le Cung Tuan Thanh - 12 Oxbridge ( Chemistry), Student Do Thanh Thanh Binh – 12 Oxbridge (Computer Science).


Looking back at 2020-2021, the Amsers' golden achievement list is not only a great pride and honor for the family, teachers and unions of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, but also a springboard, a shining example and motivation for the next generations of students to continue to follow to the path of knowledge.
