ORIENTATION DAY 2021: NOW YOU SEE AMS
With a view to presenting students of grade tenth with memorable first experiences, the School Administrator of Hanoi - Amsterdam High school for the Gifted managed to convene the Orientation Day program: Pride of Hanoi - Amsterdam online and left many unforgettable memories.
Orientation Day is an annual event, which the school entrusted to the Extended Executive Committee of the school-levelled Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to organize. On the morning of August 31st 2021, in response to the problematic epidemic developments of COVID-19, Orientation Day was held via Youtube and Zoom Meetings with the attendance of tenth graders of the year 21-24. After a remarkably challenging exam season during the pandemic outbreak, they had proved their mettle by surpassing themselves, mastering the knowledge and joining the ranks of excellent students of the Hanoi capital.
The ceremony commenced with a greeting performance for the new students. Afterwards, they got to watch a brief documentary about Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and listen to a speech given by Mrs Tran Thuy Duong — a Party Committee Secretary as well as the school’s Principal. In her oration, she expressed how heart-warming it was to welcome the 36th generation of students entering the large, loving family that was Hanoi - Amsterdam after thirty-odd years of her occupation under HN - Ams’ roof.
The tenth graders had gained more knowledge about the location, history, achievements and aspirations of the school. Those were also some profound, glorious yet dear and loving images of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School.
Not only did the ceremony give information on the honourable heritage and accomplishments of the predecessors, but it also brought about various novel experiences about Hanoi - Ams for the newly Amsers. The event had been broadcasted to thousands of students and parents, going beyond the scope of an ordinary annual ceremony for welcoming students of grade tenth.
Lastly, they were divided into meeting rooms on Zoom to meet with their homeroom teacher and participate in exciting activities on Orientation Day 2021. Let’s go over some of the event’s captured moments:
Class 10 Cambridge
The students of Class 10 Chemistry 1 taking part in an informative mini-game about the school.
Class 10 Geography
Hopefully, the Amsers of the 21-24 generation had enjoyed an entertaining Orientation Day. May the neo-Amsers continue to write their own precious stories in the next three school years!
