Christmas is a special holiday where we get to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Although it originated in the West, this is one of the biggest holidays and of the ones most celebrated by a lot of Vietnamese people, especially the youth. Since it's Christmas, let's listen to what Nguyễn Ngọc Hà Chi, member of 11 History, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School, has to say about the holiday!

Reporter: First of all, thank you so much for participating in this interview. Christmas is coming, and the festive atmosphere can be felt everywhere, especially since Ams is putting on some truly vibrant decorations this year. I wonder if you in particular feel anything looking at the Christmas trees and decorations of this year?

Hà Chi: This year, I can tell that the school is seriously investing in some eye-catching ornaments, especially with the sparkling Christmas tree at Front Hall A. I have spent six years at Ams, and I'm only seeing a tree this year, so I was so surprised. It felt like a cozy Christmas was truly coming when everyone was all excited to snap a photo of them with it.

However, Christmas also means that a memorable year is about to pass by, and that a new year filled with surprises is coming. I can feel a sense of nostalgia seeing how time flies by so fast, but I am also very excited to celebrate Christmas with my family and loved ones.

Reporter: As someone who's spending her sixth year at Hanoi – Amsterdam High School, and has witnessed so many Christmas seasons, how would you describe Ams' changes throughout the years?

Hà Chi: Every Christmas season at school is unique in its own way, but I feel like every single one of them is special and meaningful to me. Every class has their own interesting activities comes Christmas, from Secret Santa to organizing art performances. Every year, Christmas songs are played everywhere, making the atmosphere buzzing with energy and imbuing me with excitement and motivating me to go to school. Nonetheless, perhaps my feelings for this Christmas atmosphere this year are special. People start taking pictures of every corner of the school early on in the month, as well as giving each other beautiful gifts and lovely wishes.

Reporter: On Christmas, every person is happy, joyful, laughing and talking on glamorously embellished streets. This holiday must be bringing you a lot of joy and beautiful memories as well. What do you like best about Christmas then?

Hà Chi: I like the feeling of being around other people in the harsh winter cold best. After a year of many ups and downs, Christmas is a chance for families to reunite. For me, it doesn't have to be ostentatious parties, posh or fashionable gifts; it can be simply a chance to catch up and converse with families and friends, looking back on good memories of the past year and enjoying a meal together.

Quite uniquely, my birthday also falls on Christmas, so this holiday has much more significance on a personal level. Every year, I receive a lot of well wishes and cute presents, so I’m looking forward to it this time around.

Reporter: Let’s say you were granted one wish for Christmas. What would that wish be?

Hà Chi: This year, I have been very fortunate to have my family and friends stand by me whenever I’m in tough times. I sense that I am well past the age to write to Santa and eagerly await his gift now, so all I’m hoping for is that my loved ones will always stay healthy and remain by my side when the new year rolls out.

Not only is Hà Chi a hardworking student, but she also participates in extracurricular activities such as in Glee Ams.

Reporter: People usually send well wishes to others on Christmas Holiday. Would you like to send one like such to everyone reading this article?

Hà Chi: I hope that everyone will have a merry Christmas filled with peace, joy and warmth with your family and friends. I hope that all of your wishes come true, and that all of your plans come to fruition. Another year is about to pass, so remember to treasure the last few days of 2022!

Reporter: Thank you once again for all of your insightful words in our interview today. For Christmas, I would like to send my most heartfelt and meaningful wishes your way, too. I wish you loads of health and a cozy Christmas season!

Christmas is the final holiday of the year when everyone reunites with their families and friends, sing merry songs and gather around the dinner tables with delicious dishes. From Hà Chi's insights, we can really see how invigorating and energetic Christmas at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School is, and how it has stayed interesting with activities throughout the years. The editorial board of Ams Wide Web would like to extend our Christmas wishes to you and everyone: Merry Christmas!
