Have you ever thought of the fact the cleaners, who have been working very hard on the roads, streets, are contributing to the protection of our environment? At the first day of this summer holiday, our 10CE class had an precious experience of working as the cleaners Hoan Kiem lake. Let’s see what we did!

At 6 a.m at Hoan Kiem lake, the road was quite crowded with vehicles traveling high and low. At 6.30 am, everybody gathered at Ham Ca Map with gloves, besom brooms, plastic bag, etc ready. Our class started walking around the lake. At first, we were little confused due to the strange looks and curiousity of the people, but that feeling was quickly forgotten as we all felt very happy to contribute to the sake of the society. Having  swept and picked up the scattering trash by hand, everybody was excited and busy with his own work. There is a lot of garbage such as plastic bags, candy wrappers…, especially ice cream sticks and pieces of the cigarette under the trees. Though only going half way around Hoan Kiem lake, we still picked up full of our trash bags.

Taking off a round of Ho Guom, passing Ly Thai To park, we moved to the ancient streets.  Because a great number of people travel to the markets here, it seems to have more litter than ever. The weather was extremely hot, which made us quite tired. Besides, the streets are narrow, the traffic is crowded, not to mention that we had to stop to pick up the trash whenever we see it. Watching what we did, some people asked: “Which school do you study in?” or “How great the work you guys are doing is!”. It encouraged us a lot to continue, even we were all likely to reach our limits.

In addition to picking up the trash and cleaning the streets, our class divided into groups to propagandize with a view to enhancing everyone’s awareness of environmental protection. We brought the banner, with the slogan “For a green environment”, “Let’s protect the environment” to promote and remind people to protect, preserve the environment we are living, starting with small activities like simply picking up the trash, putting it in the bag,…

At about 9 am, we finished the work. We needed to work as the cleaners that we could understand how hard they are working to protect our environment. In spite of being dead tired, sweaty, we all felt extremely happy because we had done something worthwhile to the community. This will be an unforgettable memory for us. Don’t hestitae, let’s start your summer vacation with a good work!
