Students of Hanoi - Amsterdam won 7 medals in the Internation Olympics for Major Cities
At the International Olympics for Major Cities 2021,students of Hanoi received one gold medal, six silver medals and two team prizes in total.
According to the results announced on December 14, Nguyen Tri Duc won a gold medal in Chemistry; and 6 other students won a silver medals: Tran Trung Kien (Chemistry), Tran Dinh Dung & Nguyen Manh Duc (Physics), Nguyen Anh Quan & Nguyen Gia Bao (Informatics), Cao Thuy An (Mathematics). The students mentioned above are all from the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
On top of that, the contestants secured the second Team Prize, as well as the prize for “Top 5 Most Excellent Cities”.

The International Olympics for Major Cities (IOM), organized by Moskva (Russia), is dedicated to students in the ages of 14-18. This competition took place for the first time in 2016 with the participation of 22 teams, representing cities from 18 countries around the world. After two years of organization, the number of participating countries rose to 32, with 45 cities in total.
This year, the competition took place from December 6 to December 13 in online platforms/multiple locations. 35 teams had to go through the “speed round” (Bliz-contest - according to the team competition format) until they could proceed to the second round - the official contest. The judges comprised of scientists and professors from many countries around the world.
The Hanoi selected team: 8 students from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted competed in four subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Informatics, two students each. This is the third year in a row that Vietnam has participated in this contest.
