On the afternoon of March 19, 2022, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted organized a school drug prevention program for 11th graders through the online platform Zoom Meetings. This is an annual activity organized by the Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted School Group in collaboration with the Hanoi Metropolitan Police Agency for Drug Crime Investigation.

The symposium was successful and effective under the leadership of instructor Ngo Quoc Khanh and the enthusiastic attendance of 11th graders. Ngo Quoc Khanh is currently working at Hanoi City Police Department for Drug Crime and has worked with Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted through annual school violence prevention activities.

The symposium aims to raise awareness and equip students and parents with the skills necessary to prevent and cope with drug-related evils. In the face of the reality of the prevalence of drugs and stimulants in today's modern society, having extensive knowledge and understanding of this problem is absolutely necessary to properly recognize and avoid addiction. Especially in adolescence, when students are curious about and discovering new things around them, they are vulnerable to negative factors such as drugs. In fact, as of March 14, 2021, there were 17,965 drug addicts in Hanoi. Understanding this, the school believes that school drug prevention education is urgent to build a healthy and civilized learning environment.

With nearly 600 11th grade students participating, Mr. Ngo Quoc Khanh gave a lecture that included the most basic knowledge of narcotics recognition with a combination of understandable examples in daily life. Currently, there are many misconceptions and lack of updates about drugs that can cause serious social consequences and are particularly dangerous in the educational environment. The briefing session helped students to understand this problem better through the instructor's dedicated and detailed explanation. In addition, the teacher made factual connections to the methods and acts of fraud involving addictive substances, which has been of great help for students to have a multidimensional perspective and know how to protect themselves in various situations.

Drug users often have red and wet eyes.

From his practical experience in life, Ngo Quoc Khanh gave some instructions to help students become more aware of the drug crisis, such as: "Bad friends must be the ones who drag you into addiction," "No one gives anything for free" or "Choose friends to play with." These valuable experiences will help students stay alert to social temptations and pitfalls. Drug use not only harms the health of individual users, but also negatively affects the quality of life of people around them.

Some other types of addictive stimulants.

Rampant information on illegal goods trade on social media.

In addition to the useful theories in the symposium, the instructor also emphasized support and cooperation from schools and families to ensure the best outcomes in educating students. Each individual needs to have responsibility for oneself, for their family and the society, because all of our actions will have astronomical impacts on the future. In addition, students also need to choose the right source of information to learn about this problem, avoiding false propaganda.

Through a useful briefing session with Ngo Quoc Khanh, students have gained access to useful knowledge in school drug prevention to improve their understanding and community responsibility. On behalf of the Website Editorial Board, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the school and the Hanoi Police Department for providing students with this practical knowledge. Hopefully, we will always maintain and build a healthy and safe environment for learning and work.
