On the afternoon of November 2nd, Prime Minister Mark Rutte visited Hanoi - Amsterdam High school for the Gifted, a school especially meaningful to the relations between the two countries as it was established thanks to the noble gesture of the citizens of Amsterdam (the Netherlands).

Earlier in the day, before Mr. Rutte arrived, the students had formed two lines along the corridor, holding tulips—the symbol of the Netherlands—to welcome Prime Minister Mark Rutte. The leader of the Netherlands smiled and waved when he reached the school.

The atmosphere heated up even more when he arrived at the auditorium, where hundreds of students and teachers were waiting for him and welcomed him with continuous rounds of applause.

With a playful but respectful attitude towards the esteemed guest, a video capturing daily moments of Mr. Rutte prepared by the event organizers was then played. The Prime Minister burst into laughter at this unique welcome.

The leader of the Netherlands then listened to the students' questions and answered them passionately throughout the afternoon.

He happily took selfies with the students, waved and thanked the love and youthful energy he was gifted with as he painted a mural with the students. The painting, which included a stylized lotus and tulip, is the benchmark that recognizes the 50 years of relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands.
