The outstanding achievements from 6 members of this year’s International Olympiad team
After 2 rigorous selection rounds of the 2021 National Excellent Student Contest, 6 distinguished students from Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted in Maths, Physics and Chemistry have emerged, representing the Vietnamese team entering the International Olympiad.
Out of 6 students forming the team joining this year’s International Olympiad, 3 students will take part in the Physics competition, 2 students will take part in the Chemistry competition, and 1 will take part in the Maths competition. The Physics contestants will participate in the 2021 APhO – the 21st Asian Physics Olympiad online in late May. The Chemistry contestants will participate in the 2021 IChO – the 53rd International Chemistry Olympiad in Japan in late July – early August. The Maths contestants will participate in the 2021 IMO – the 62nd International Mathematics Olympiad in mid-July in Russia. This is truly an honor for our education in general and Hanoi – Amsterdam High School to have exceptional factors competing on the international stage.

Continuing the tradition since the school’s establishment, every year the school has phenomenal students that got through incredibly selective rounds with strong opponents nationwide to gain the ticket to competitions on a larger scale. This proves that the school cares about the recruitment and invigoration of talented people, hoping to create the best conditions to find the brightest individuals on the journey to the intellectual height. Students of Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted have left a lasting impression in the capital’s education with their tradition of curiosity, inquisitiveness, thirst for knowledge, determination against hardship, strengthening the school’s status top status.

1. Nguyen Hoang Nam – 12 Physics 1 – the Physics team
- Highest score in the Regional Excellent Student Competition in Physics for 9th grader.
- Highest score in the Hanoi High School Entrance Exam for Physics specialization.
- Third prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in Physics in 10th grade.
- Bronze medal in the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) in 10th grade.
- First prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in Physics in 11th grade.
- Gold medal in the 2020 International Olympiad of Metropolises (IOM) in Physics.
- Member of the team participating in the 2021 Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO).
2. Nguyen Manh Quan – 12 Physics 1 – the Physics team
- First prize in the 2018 Hanoi Regional Excellent Student Competition in Maths and Science for 9th graders.
- Gold medal in the 2019 International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics in Hungary; the competitor with the highest total score in the contest (Absolute Winner).
- Gold medal in the 2018 International Junior Science Olympiad; silver medal for Theoretical.
- First prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in Physics in the 2019 – 2020 schoolyear.
- Gold medal in the 2020 European Physics Olympiad (EuPhO).
- First prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in Physics in the 2020 – 2021 schoolyear.
- Member of the team participating in the 2021 Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO).
3. Tran Quang Vinh – 12 Physics 1 – the Physics team
- Silver medal in the 2019 International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA).
- First prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in Physics in the 2019 – 2020 schoolyear.
- Gold medal in the 2020 International Olympiad of Metropolises (IOM) in Physics.
- First prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in Physics in the 2020 – 2021 schoolyear.
- Member of the team participating in the 2021 Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO).
4. Nguyen Duy Anh – 12 Chemistry 1 – the Chemistry team
- First prize in the Hanoi Regional Excellent Student Competition in Chemistry and Science for 9th graders.
- First prize in the 2020 Hanoi Regional Excellent Student Competition in Chemistry for 12th graders.
- Second prize in the 2020 National Excellent Student Competition in Chemistry.
- First prize in the 2021 National Excellent Student Competition in Chemistry.
- Gold medal in the 2020 International Olympiad of Metropolises (IOM) in Chemistry.
- Member of the team participating in the 2021 International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO).
5. Nguyen Le Thao Anh – 12 Chemistry 1 – the Chemistry team
- Individual gold medal in the 2018 International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).
- Team gold medal for Experimental in the 2018 International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).
- Team bronze medal for Country in the 2018 International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).
- Silver medal in the 2019 Excellent Student Competition in the Northern Coast and Delta.
- First prize in the Hanoi Regional Excellent Student Competition in Chemistry in the 2019 – 2020 schoolyear.
- Second prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in Chemistry in the 2019 – 2020 schoolyear.
- Member of the team participating in round 2 of the National Excellent Student in Chemistry in the 2019 – 2020 schoolyear.
- First prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in Chemistry in the 2020 – 2021 schoolyear.
- Gold medal in the 2020 International Olympiad of Metropolises (IOM) in Chemistry.

6. Do Bach Khoa – 12 Maths 1 – the Maths team
- First prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in Maths in the 2020 – 2021 schoolyear.
- First prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in Maths in the 2019 – 2020 schoolyear.
- Gold medal in the 2020 International Olympiad of Metropolises (IOM) in Maths.
