Meet the HOMC Team of 2018 from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted
On the occasion of HOMC 2018, held from March 26th to March 30th of 2018, the School Managing Board, teachers, parents as well as the members of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School’s HOMC team have met up and share the stories behind preparation for the competition.
At the beginning, Mr. Ho Quoc Viet – Vice Principal in charge of Facilities and Expertise of the Secondary classes have retold the entire process of preparation for HOMC. Up to now, the school have been well-equipped in order to welcome both international and national teams. Hanoi - Amsterdam have also joined forces with Trung Hoa ward in order to provide full electricity and security. The Vice Principal, on behalf of the school, asserts the efforts to helpfully assist the students and teacher participating in this year’s HOMC.

"I always highly appreciate the HOMC exams for its prestige and practical meaning," said Thai Thi Thanh Hoa, a teacher in mathematics who directly trained the HOMC team. “All questions are in English, requiring students to possess not only math skills but also foreign language skills. Especially in 2018, with the attention and investment of the Hanoi People's Committee, Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the exam for the first time welcomes international fellow teams. This is the motivation for our students to compete with their peers from other countries, as well as the opportunity for our Vietnamese students to express the hospitality, values and skills of Vietnamese people to the international guests". She also affirmed that this year's team members of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School all had enough skills and knowledge to meet the requirements of the exam..

During the meeting, reporters havel also interviewed the students who will be taking the exams. Ngo Huy Phong and Le Duc Khoi - Grade 10 students of class Mathematics 1 shared their honors and pride as Hanoi-Amsterdam students joining the HOMC team. The two are excited as this year's contest will welcome international friends, thus they both wish to introduce about Vietnam to friends around the world.

Ngo Huy Phong shared: "I have had a passion for mathematics from a young age and HOMC has given me the opportunity to prove myself, to pick up experiences and knowledge from teachers and peers. I also hope that next year's HOMC will involve more foreign teams for contestants in the country have the opportunity to shine in the international arena." In addition, Ngo Huy Phong’s parents also expressed their incere thanks to the school,the teachers for nurturing students' mathematical passion as well as taking care of each of the team.
