Hanoi continues to lead countrywide regarding the number of students that won prizes in the National Contest for Excellent Students
According to information from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training on January 18th afternoon, Hanoi’s selected students team participating in the National Contest for Excellent High School Students 2020-2021 continue to achieve high results, leading in the country.

On January 18th, 2021, The Ministry of Education and Training announced the results of the National Contest for Excellent Students 2020-2021. The competition took place from December 25th to December 27th with 12 subjects. Taking part in the competition were 4.562 contestants from 63 provinces/cities. The exams were graded in two separate rounds following a strict procedure, guaranteeing accuracy and objectivity. The results showed that the tests maintained a high level of accuracy and differentiation. There were 2.278 awarded students throughout the country (about 50% of the total contestants) with 93 first prizes, 544 second prizes, 718 third prizes and 923 consolation prizes.
There were 184 students from Hanoi who participated in the National Contest for Excellent High School Students 2020-2021, in which there were 139 students who gained awards, including 11 first prizes, 45 second prizes, 50 third prizes and 33 consolation prizes. Out of the 139 prizes, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted contributed 95 prizes, followed by Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted with 17 prizes and Chu Van An National High School with 13 prizes. Notably, many suburban schools such as Hai Ba Trung Thach That High School, Ngo Quyen Ba Vi High School, Cao Ba Quat Gia Lam High School, Dan Phuong High School had students attaining national awards for the first time.
A remarkable result from the Hanoi’s students team participating in the National Contest for Excellent High School Students 2020-2021 is that there were awarded students in every subject.
Specifically, out of the 11 first prizes, chemistry led with 4 students winning the first prize; mathematics and physics had 2 first prize winners each; history, geography and English had 1 first prize winner each.
Of the 45 second prizes, there were 9 prizes in English; chemistry had 7 prizes; biology and geography each had 6 prizes; mathematics and physics had 5 prizes each; history 4 prizes, I.T 2 prizes and Chinese 1 prize.
There were 50 third prizes in the subjects: Mathematics 4 prizes, physics 6 prizes, chemistry 4 prizes, biology 6 prizes, I.T 7 prizes, literature 2 prizes, history 5 prizes, geography 3 prizes, English 6 prizes, French 6 prizes, Chinese 1 prize.
With this result, Hanoi continues to be the leader in the country in terms of the number and quality of prizes in the National Contest for Excellent High School Students 2020-2021.
The results of good students selection this year continue to affirm the right policy from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training on the basis of improving the quality of mass education to better detect and foster gifted students and good students.
The success of the National Contest for Excellent High School Students 2020-2021 creates an advantageous foundation for regional and international Olympic team selection, heading towards the success of the international Olympic competition in 2021.
