Hanoi – Amsterdam High School For the Gifted respond to “Green Innovation Award” competition
Recently on 4th April, in the jubilant atmosphere of the weekly meeting, the students and staff of Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted responded to the “Green Innovation Award” competition. The competition aims to encourage students to research and come up with new ideas in the field of environment protection, thereby gradually raise public awareness.
The ceremony was attended by Mrs. Le Thi Oanh, Secretary of Party Committee and Principal of the school; Mr. Ho Quoc Viet, VP; Mr. Bui Van Phuc, VP; Mrs. Duong Tu Anh, VP; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vinh, VP; Representative of Vietnam Environment Administration and Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment, Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung – Director of Center for Environmental Training and Communication; Representative of the judging panel – Professor Nguyen Lan Dung; as well as media agencies.

With a view to creating a salutary playground to help the young improve their reasoning and creative ability, the competition aims at youngsters 6-30 years of age with a passion for protecting the environment. According to the rules, all entries should consist of two parts: environment protection & sustainable development ideas and attached models, focusing on the following issues: energy saving; environment-friendly products; biodiversity conservation; waste recycle and treatment; solutions in terms of policy, education and environment; application of information technology in environment management and protection.
The Preliminary Council will select the best 30 entries for the Final Round, in which 21 entries will be published and awarded 3rd prize and Encouragement prize in the Final night. The remaining 9 entries will continue the Final Round and be directly presented to the judges. The organizers hope to find efficient models to complete, apply in daily life and popularize in the community. The prizes include: 1 First prize, 2 Second prize, 3 Third prize and 4 Encouragement prize, the total value of which is 134 million Vietnam Dong; excellent ideas will be financially supported to develop.

At the end of the ceremony, Do Phuong Mai, president of Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted’s social and environmental club came on stage to express her interest in the humanist meaning of the competition. Protecting the environment is one of the current urgent issues. With that in mind, Amsers responded enthusiastically to the “Green Innovation Award”, with a view to contributing creative ideas and models to improve our lives.
