CLOSING AND AWARDING CEREMONY FOR INTERNATIONAL CONTESTANTS OF HANOI OPEN MATHEMATICS COMPETITION (HOMC) 2019
In the evening of April 5, Hanoi’s Department of Education and Training held the Closing Ceremony of the Hanoi Mathematical Examination Prize in 2019 for the participants of Group A (the table with the participation of international candidates)
The closing ceremony of Group A was attended by Dr. Chu Xuan Dung - Director of Department of Education and Training, Head of HOMC Organizing Committee; Dr. Le Ngoc Quang - Vice Director of Department of Education and Training; Mr. Ngo Van Quy - Vice Chairman of Hanoi City; Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai - Vice Director of Department of Home Affairs; delegates of Embassy of Poland, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia and 146 table A candidates along with their mentors. Opening the ceremony are the cultural performance which show the diversity as well as the harmony between cultures. Through the special performances, the organizers hope that international teams will have more understanding and memories of Vietnamese culture.
At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan - Secretary General of Hanoi Mathematical Association evaluated the professional work of this year's exam. According to him, this year's competition was very good. The students all showed a sharp mathematical thinking and came up with brilliant solutions. At the team section, there was even an absolute score. He also emphasized that geographical distance does not make it difficult for candidates because they already have mathematics as a common language.
In the Closing Ceremony, the organizers awarded prizes to the candidates in Table A. In the individual group, Junior ages had 9 contestants who won the Gold Medal (including 4 Vietnamese students), 17 candidates winning Silver Medals and 26 contestants winning the Bronze Medal; Senior ages had 8 contestants winning Gold Medal (including 2 Vietnamese students), 15 contestants winning Silver medal and 26 contestants winning Bronze medal.
In the team section of Junior ages, Chinese teams won the grand championship and Vietnamese team 1 won the first prize. In the Senior team section, the Indonesian team won the grand championship. The first prize of this part belongs to the Chinese team, the Vietnamese team 1 won the second prize, the Vietnamese team 2 won the third prize.
In order to continue the success of the HOMC 2019 exam, Dr. Chu Xuan Dung on behalf of the steering committee launched the HOMC 2020 exam with the hope that more international students will come to Hanoi to exchange and Professional exchange of Mathematics in the following years.
