Amsers achieved second place in the National Science and Technology competition for juniors

On 27/3, the Ministry of Education and Training held the closing and award ceremony for the 2020 - 2021 Science & Technology competition for juniors in Hue.

 

According to the competition report, Minister of Thua Thien Hue’s department of Education and Training Nguyen Tan said that this year’s topic is diverse, focusing on 11 fields, among which the Embedded System had the largest number of topics with 28, followed by Social Science - Behaviour with 16, Computer Biology and Bioinformatics with 13...

Each field in Mechanical Engineering - Robot and Smart Computer, Mathematics, Energy, Physics, Materials Science, Astrophysics, Zoology, Biomedical Science and Healthcare Science - has 12 topics, with various projects related to topical social issues such as environment, health, animal protection,...

According to the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training Nguyen Huu Do, the boom of knowledge and manufacturing technology, combined with the fourth industrial revolution, is changing the content of Education and Training. This requires both learners and educators to change their methods of studying and teaching; schools must change their evaluation methods of students’ academic and training results. The competition aimed to direct teaching and learning methods towards ability development and to encourage university professors to help students in national or international Science and Technology competitions.

The judges are scientists and leading professors. With great responsibility and impartiality, they had chosen 91 winning projects (64.5% of participating projects), including 12 first place winners, 19 second place winners, 26 third place winners and 34 fourth place winners.

12 first place winners spread across the 11 fields, among which the field of Embedded System has 2 first place winners: “Smart hospital beds supporting patients with disabled limbs at home” from students of Hoa Lu A High School and “Early Warnings of the risks involved in AI controlled shrimp-nourishing environment” from students of Hon Gia High School, Quang Ninh.

Especially, Ha Noi also had 2 first place winners in this competition: “Marine microalgae - a nutritious food source for meletrix lime larvae” in the field of Healthcare and Medical Science from students of Viet Duc High School and Chu Van An High School, Ha Noi, and “A research in  controlling the resolution process of medicine wrap in Alginate with magnetite” from students of Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School, HaNoi University of Pedagogy.

The organizing committee said that 7 out of the 12 first place winners will be representing Viet Nam in the upcoming international competition in May 2021. In order to be selected, first place winners must present their projects in English.

Do Gia Khanh (IT 19-22) and Ngo Gia Bao (T1 19-22) from Ha Noi - Amsterdam High School for the gifted participated in the competition and achieved second place with the topic of “A solution to nutrition management and meal portions recommendations for students from 6 to 14 years old with the Caremeal app.”

Chief of the Junior Education department Nguyen Xuan Thanh has launched the 2021-2022 National Science and Technology competition for Juniors. This will be the 9th year that the competition was held with a view to encouraging students to research in science and technology and apply such knowledge into solving problems of everyday life. This activity has played a role in innovating forms of teaching and assessment, directing them towards the holistic development of students and STEM education.
