Reading Festival: a great success
The 2012 Reading Festival held last Saturday (May 21st) in Ha Noi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted has been a great success.
Starting at 8:30 a.m, the festival was continuously heated until it ended at mid-day. Aiming at introducing the large and diverse collection of knowledge and information through hundreds of different genres of books, the Reading Festival featured several famous bookstores such as: Long Minh Bookstore, Alezza E-book Company, Alphabooks Bookstore, Nha Nam Bookstore, Tre Publishing House, An Sinh Company. In any book stall, students received great assistance from passionate and attentive teachers acting as book sellers in charge.
Moreover, the exciting and nerve-wrecking chess tournament “1 vs 20” between the chess champion, Bùi Vinh, and 20 students in Ha Noi – Amsterdam High School attracted a large number of viewers. For approximately 3 hours, the champion took great efforts in order to eliminate 17 opposing students. The remaining 3 belonged to class 11L1. Eventually, Quynh Huong from class 11L1 became the last student to take part in the match and eventually, the result was a draw. This chess tournament was considered a great opportunity for Amsers to showcase their intelligence and talents.
