On the afternoon of 11/14/2014, a friendly exchange between Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and Korean International School Hanoi – KISH was held at Hanoi – Amsterdam. In the meeting, the two sides discussed and undertook to support each other, develop educationand strengthen solidarity. This exchange is a good sign of the diplomatic relation between Vietnam and Korea.

KISH was built in 2006 and officially came into operation in 2012. Up to now, the school has had over 600 primary, secondary and high school students. This is a school for children of Koreans currently living and working in Vietnam.

At 1:30, the exchange began. The managing boards of both schools were present at the event.

The event kicked off with a short clip introducing the history, traditions, development progress and achievements of the school. After that, Madam Oh Geong Ja – Principal of KISH and Madam Le Thi Oanh, party committee secretary, Principal of Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, represented all the students and teachers of their schools to give the other school best regards and wished the two schools unity and cooperation for development. They also signed a friendly exchange commitment between the two schools. This was an activity contributed to the widening of the relations in education exchange between the two countries.

Right after that was a friendly match between the two schools’ football teams at Amsterdam Arena (the football pitch of Hanoi - Amsterdam). The players from team KISH and Hanoi - Ams eagerly discussed and shared with one another about their countries, their study environment, and their people.

Both team warmed up before the match.

With excellent physical build and strength, the Korean players started the match with confidence and assurance. Their first goal was quite early, at the beginning of the match. KISH’s defence and goalkeeper did an excellent job when they blocked many passes and continually denied numerous shots from Ams’ players. At the end of round 1, the result was 1-0 for KISH.

In round 2, with a few changes in tactics, our team’s spirit was lifted, and we continually put pressure on the field. Ams had many speedy attacks, maneuvers and skillful cooperation, but still very hasty when shooting. However, after one missed shot at the goal, Ams’ players were able to find a flaw in the firm defence of KISH. Afterwards, players Dinh Tuan Huy (History 13-16) and Nguyen Hoang Anh Tu (Math 2 12-15) easily equalized and took the lead by 2-1. KISH competed very well but the remaining time was too short for them to change the battle. Hanoi - Amsterdam won the match by 2-1.

Although it was a short afternoon, the impressions and memories that Korean International School made will forever remain. A memory with friendly, talented Korean teachers and students. A memory about a fair football match. A memory about responsible football players who thanked the audience after the match and stayed to clean up.

The friendly exchange has contributed to the understanding and relationship between young generations of Korea and Vietnam in general, and between Korean International School and Hanoi - Amsterdam in particular. We hope that the two schools will continue to hold more meetings and exchanges to help the students become more united, and to beautify the relationship and exchange between Vietnam and Korea.
