On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Ams Wide Web reporters had the opportunity to talk to a few Amsers.

Anh Duong - a 10th grader of Literature Class (2020-2023)

Reporter: What is Ams in you?

Anh Duong: Ams in me is love, is a dream, and more than that, a home. Ams gives me a place to go far away and return to, to grow up and to be loved.

Tu Uyen: Ams in me, contains a lot of emotions. It is the fresh mornings coming to school, the late afternoons lingering a little at school. It is the sunshine in Ams, the red wall, the skylight. It is the teachers, the friends, the clubs, and NHAT. But above all, Ams is the movie of my youth.

Reporter: How long have you been with Ams?

Tu Uyen: This is my 5th year with Ams. I used to be scared that I would stop at number four, but now I'm just carefree to move forward to seven.

Anh Duong: I've been with Ams for 4 years and I will be here for another 3 years of high school, so it's 7 years - a period of time to look forward to.

Reporter: Why did you choose Ams as your youth?

Anh Duong: Because thanks to Ams, my youth has become extremely beautiful. Ams gives me the opportunity to grow up, to become mature, to face obstacles. In Ams I’ve become stronger and more sincere. Thanks to Ams, I find delightful laughter every sunny afternoon, find good friends, receive love, and stumble to stand up again. With Ams, my youth becomes memorable.

Tu Uyen: Because Ams is Ams, it's as simple as that. In Ams I’ve found close friends, got to know many people who share the same passion as mine, met super lovely and empathetic teachers, and above all, I’ve found myself in Ams. To be able to do what I like, to be with the people I love, to be happy, sad, to go through many states of emotions with Ams, to grow up with Ams. 

Reporter: If you were to bring one thing from Ams around the world, what would you take?

Tu Uyen: There are a lot of things in Ams I want to take around the world, but if I could only choose one thing, I'd probably take the Amsers spirit with me. Amsers are famous for studying hard and playing hard, because in Amsers there lies the burning spirit of youth which never backs down from difficulties. I didn't get it before, but now I understand when I hear the saying "Where Amsers go, they make their mark there"!

Anh Duong: I will bring with me the peaceful sunny mornings. The sunshine in Ams is sweet and gentle, always prompting me for a new day, helping me soothe my own heart, at some point Ams’s sunshine became an important part of my life; it is a tool in life, a time to remember that I always keep close in my heart.

Reporter: Say something to express the spirit of Amsers on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the school!

Anh Duong: Be fierce, bold, embrace your own individuality to conquer dreams and aspirations. Be sincere and always nurture your hopes and beliefs to continue building more "35 years" of the school in the future. And most importantly, always love and cherish Ams like you did at the first moment of meeting Ams. Once Amsers, forever Amsers!
