On January 4th, 2023, the exhibition GART EXPO 2022: CYBERPUNK took place at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School, leaving countless unforgettable impressions on the participants. For the first time, GreenAms 6520 Robotics Team merged the finals of the Mock GART internal tournament and the technology exhibition into GART EXPO 2022.

Mock GART is an annual internal tournament of GreenAms 6520 Robotics Team (GART6520) - the first and only Robotics club in the school and also the only Vietnamese team participating in the FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) — a Robotics competition for high school students around the world. This is the club’s annual event to provide the club members with the most comprehensive robot design and manufacturing experience. Moreover, it is also a great opportunity for members to familiarize themselves with the exam questions, as the competition rules are similar to the FIRST Robotics Competition. Mock GART is not only an opportunity for the participants to mentally prepare themselves before the competition but also a chance for the members to bond, talk and understand more about each other. Club members were divided into 2 teams of Team Red Flag and Team Bing Chilling to compete in a variety of categories. The team with the most winning points based on the judges’ decision would have a chance to take home the trophy of glory.

At this Mock GART, students competed not only in the designing and monitoring of robots but also in the Foreign Relations category. In that category, two teams needed to use a foreign language to complete their essays and presentations. In all criteria, the students exerted themselves and spent a lot of time and efforts striving to create high-quality projects. All club members tried their best, united and supported each other to bring about the fullest performance possible.

During the preparation for GART EXPO 2022, the students learnt and improved their professional knowledge, skills and personal relationships. In the early days, the members still faced difficulty in brainstorming ideas and designing robots or gathering information for essays in the Foreign Relations section. However, the solidarity and relentless efforts of the members have led to some impressive projects that are beyond expectations. At the finishing stage, all members of the Organizing Committee had to spend a lot of time completing the work. Laborious though it was, every member had a memorable experience.

Completing the final stages before the competition

At GART EXPO 2022, participants had the opportunity to admire the eye-catching robot “performances” at MOCK GART and visit the booths, listen to introductions as well as trying out many fascinating applied science projects first-hand. Notably, science and robotics clubs of high schools across Northern Vietnam also took part in this exhibition. Explosive scientific experiments and exciting high-tech projects received a lot of positive feedback from the event participants. Additionally, in the exhibition area of the GART6520 club, there was merchandise ranging from technological manuals, certificates to briefing of the club’s proud achievements during the past 7 years such as Runner-up in Vietnam Robotics Challenge, Rookie Inspiration Award 2017, Engineering Design Award 2021, etc.

The match between the two teams Red Flag and Bing Chilling at GART EXPO 2022 brought a thrilling and dramatic atmosphere. The members were heavily focused on their parts, utilizing their time to perfect the final programming steps for the robot. The audience nervously watched the match, excitedly discussed the robots, and cheered for the two teams non-stop. In the end, Bing Chilling had an excellent performance, continuously winning 3 rounds and beating the Red Flag team.

With the final victory in the Business category and the victory in the Specialty section with a score of 3-0, the championship trophy called the Bing Chilling team’s name. However, the Red Flag team performed spectacularly when they won the Woodie Flower award in the Business section. Nguyen Ngoc Mai Ly — this year’s vice president of the club said: “This is the first time we organized GART EXPO, so a lack of experience was inevitable, but we tried our best. I hope that the event will spread the love of Robotics to everyone, as well as helping people understand more about the club’s activities.” Along with that, Nguyen Le Minh Dat — Head of the club’s Electronics Department acclaimed: “I feel proud that both teams have put their best efforts into perfecting the projects for this tournament. We hope the members gained valuable experiences in the process, overcame their weaknesses and improved their own strengths to give their best performances in the official tournament.”

This year’s GART EXPO 2022 left participants with remarkable memories of an awe-inspiring science exhibition and the victory of the Bing Chilling team. We hope that the members have all learned priceless lessons to become stronger and sturdier in the upcoming FRC arena. Ams Wide Web’s Editorial Board would like to send our best wishes to GART6520 Club, and we hope that the club will continue carrying out more meaningful and successful events for the community soon.
