All 4 International Olympiad Medalists go to Hanoi University of Science and Technology

On August 14th morning, Hanoi University of Science and Technology put on a welcome ceremony for K62 freshmen, including Dinh Anh Dung, the student of Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted’s Physics class who got a gold medal in International Physics Olympiad 2017, and three other medalists in the Olympiad.

On the first day of school, the School Board of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) had a friendly meeting with the four freshmen, among whom Nguyen Canh Hoang (Gold medal in International Mathematics Olympiad) and Tran Huu Binh Minh (Gold medal in International Physics Olympiad) are going to study Information Technology, Dinh Anh Dung (Gold medal in International Physics Olympiad) is going to study Mechatronics and Phan Tuan Linh (Silver Medal in International Physics Olympiad) is going to study Automation.

In the meeting, the University also granted full scholarships of talent support to the four excellent students.

This is the type of scholarship for freshmen who meet both of these criteria: Get first/second/third prize in an International Olympiad or get first prize in a National Olympiad or a City Performing Contest while in High School or get the highest point in the entrance exam to the University and had good behavioral record during the high school years.

 

Talking to the students, Professor Hoang Minh Son informed that the scholarship would be granted throughout their study at school.

In 2017, HUST places high expectations on the quality of freshmen. Statistically, those with entrance points higher than 24, 25 and 26

account for 93.03%, 84.43% and 63.76% of the total number of new students respectively. 38.67% of the freshman have entrance points higher than 27 while that of those who have entrance points higher than 28 is 17.68%; and 5.61% of the freshmen got more than 29 points in the entrance exam.
