The Kapusta - the Little Cabbage is a project developed by the students of Russian class 17-20 at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School in order to raise money for helping poor students, in times where there are many shortages in living condition, education and transportation.

After many field trips and surveys, and having witnessed the bad learning -conditions of poor pupils, the 10th grade Russian class students under the guidance and support of teachers and families, introduced their project The Kapusta. With the mission of changing the face of rural schools, improving the beauty of a schooling environment, the first season of the project will raise funds to invest in facilities for primary and preschools in poorer provinces.

Fund-raising project The Kapusta

The Kapusta in the Russian language means "cabbage" - a familiar species, characterized by close layers of leaves on top of each other. The name is simple but it holds a lot of meaning. The image of a cabbage expresses the great humanitarian spirit that the project is aiming for: "the good leaves cover the torn leaves", to bring joyful fire to the unlucky fate.

The first season of the project has the theme Accentus - a breakthrough, prominent element, impressive but at the same time creates harmony, playing a key role in the individuality of art. The name clearly illustrates the purpose of the project this season, which is to improve the quality of facilities at poor elementary schools and kindergartens through wall painting to give the excitement and motivation to go to school, changing the face of schools in the poor provinces of Vietnam.

To estimate the probability of the project, students of 10 Russian carried out Pre-season: Experience day, bringing “a new coat” to a kindergarten in Thai Nguyen by themselves.

However, thanks to the passion and determination of the members, the new colors of the school soon appeared, complete and beautiful.

Accompanying the project from the first day, Ms. Pham Thi Bich Hong - form teacher of Russia 10 Amsterdam high school confided: "Witnessing the planning of a charity project for poor students, and seeing that idea being gradually realized and developed into a sustainable project, has a wonderful experience. On the first day, she was inevitably worried: “They are always messing around, cannot often handle hard work, would they be afraid of dirt or get easily bored when painting the walls? But the first session was successful beyond expectations. The students all had their faces and body dirty, some even had paint on their hair, but no one felt bothered by it ... The result made everyone passing by had to stare and admire. Keep it up, kids, The Kapusta will definitely succeed!”

Season 1 of the project - Accentus will be kicked off with pre-event fundraising and promotion at the two fairs Spring Fair-Eurasia and Tet Festival. The class members promise to bring a variety of goods, from creative handmade items, greeting cards to lucky envelopes with meaningful messages ready to be hand-delivered to people. In addition, the fundraising event will also happen on their Facebook fanpage The Kapusta at the same time.

On behalf of the Website Editors, we wish The Kapusta will have a brilliant start!
